12PM FRIDAY 23 JANUARY

12PM FRIDAY 30 JANUARY

Come and support our strike action – be there before 12 noon start!

The NZPFU is fighting for safe systems of work (safe and reliable appliances, sufficient career firefighters and 111 emergency dispatchers, safe workplaces free of asbestos, black mould and safe earthquake ratings), better access to mental health programmes, efficient occupational cancer and illness processes, full reimbursement of occupational disease blood testing, fair and reasonable wages and other important claims in bargaining including for Volunteer Support Officers, Trainers, those working in community readiness/recovery/risk reduction and those working safety/health/wellbeing roles, as well as those that are direct line managers of some of our members.

Approximately 2,000 members are walking away from fire stations and workplaces for one hour from 12 noon on 23 January and 30 January 2026. Meet at the locations (main fire stations in most cases) listed below before 12 noon and picket with the NZPFU members for an hour.

We have no option but to take strike action. FENZ’s July 13 offer was rejected by 99% of our members. NZPFU members have not had a pay increase since July 2023.
